If your Jaguar engine has Variable Valve Timing, it is controlled by the Variable Valve Timing Solenoid, (or VVT Solenoid). Symptoms of a faulty VVT Solenoid could include the engine hesitating, or pinging under load. You should have your Jaguar checked over by a competent person who can diagnose any faults correctly. A faulty VVT Solenoid should bring up the Check Engine Light on your Jaguar's dashboard.
