The Valve Rocker Arm in your Jaguar's engine sits on top of the cylinder head and pivots to open and close the inlet and exhaust valves as required during the combustion cycle. One end is acted on by the lobes on the rotating camshaft, and the other end acts on the valve. As the engine in your Jaguar ages, the components in the valve rocker arms can wear, and you might notice a fast 'ticking' sound coming from the top of your Jaguar's engine, especially soon after starting. Poor quality engine oil, or not following Jaguar's servicing schedule properly will increase the wear on all the internal components of your Jaguar's engine.
