The Vacuum Pump on your Jaguar is operated by the engine and works to provide the Brake Servo (or Brake Booster) with the vacuum pressure it needs to operate properly. A failing Vacuum Pump might present itself by making the brake pedal harder to operate than usual, or as you are braking you might feel that your brakes are less effective. If you notice anything different about the braking on your Jaguar, you must have your braking system inspected by a competent person as a safety precaution as soon as possible.
