The Timing Cover Gasket, is a flexible seal that sits between the Timing Cover and the rest of your Jaguar's engine. Over time, the gaskets can go hard and engine oil can seep out under pressure. You might notice a smell of warm fumes if this oil is leaking onto the exhaust, or your Jaguar's engine looks like it has an oil leak coming from the front. These gaskets should be replaced as a matter of course any time the Timing Cover is removed for example when servicing the Timing Chain on your Jaguar. Have your Jaguar checked over for leaks by a competent person who will clean the engine properly and run it to see where the leaks are coming from.
