The Thermostat in your Jaguar's cooling system should remain closed until the engine reaches the optimum operating temperature, and then it should open and close as necessary, allowing the flow of hot coolant to the radiator for cooling, and to maintain the operating temperature. A failed Thermostat could mean your Jaguar doesn't reach the correct operating temperature, or can't maintain the temperature as it should. If you notice that your Jaguar takes a long time to warm up, gets too hot, or the temperature gauge fluctuates, then have the cooling system checked over by a competent person who can remove and test the thermostat, and replace it if necessary.
