The Oil Seperator is part of your Jaguar's Positive Crankcase Ventilation system is designed to relieve the pressure in the Crankcase from the Crankcase gases. As the Crankcase gases pass through, the Oil Seperator collects the liquid oil and drips it back into the Oil Sump Pan. The remaining gases and oil vapours are directed into the intake system, where they are burnt off in the combustion chamber. Symptoms of a fault in your Jaguar's PCV system include high oil comsumption, the engine oil might appear sludgy, and on petrol engines, you might see an oily coating on your Jaguar's Spark Plugs. If your Check Engine Light comes up, and you notice any changes in your Jaguar's performance or fuel and oil consumption, have a competent person check over your Jaguar to determine the fault, and rectify accordingly.
