The Oil Pump in your Jaguar's engine is driven by a chain. Often, with correct maintenance and servicing, the chain will never require replacement. Over time, however, chains can stretch and wear, and tensioners can wear and reach their limit too. If you notice any rattling noises emanating from your Jaguar's engine, you should have it checked over by a competent person who can check the chain and tensioner to see if they are worn to the point that replacement is required.
