The Piston Rings in your Jaguar's Engine are there to create a seal between the piston and the cylinder wall. If you are having your engine rebuilt or refurbished, it is well worth considering replacing any worn piston rings. Worn piston rings will allow oil into the combustion chamber, and will lower the compression as the expanding gases in the power stroke blow past the piston rings, rather than working on the piston. Damaged piston rings can score the cylinder wall, which will also reduce compression, and reduce the performance and efficiency of your Jaguar.
